Painting from life demands that I focus my academic skills and passion on the race against the elements of nature. Intuition must prevail over intellect. Some of my best and worst paintings have come out of this passionate zone. I was on a high when a good painting appeared almost magically, and plunged the opposite direction when a bad one resulted.
